Human and Social Development

Our students will study personal and human social skills and as they relate to students' identity in the world - both as individuals and as members of their community. We are learning that personal and human social skills encompass the abilities students needs to thrive as individuals, to understand and care about themselves and others, and to find and achieve their purposes in the world.

Goals

  • Improve student sense of well-being.

At Ross Elementary, we prioritize student well-being by creating inclusive, supportive spaces where every child feels valued, connected, and safe. Through cooperative games, mindfulness routines, and group activities, we help students build social-emotional skills such as self-regulation, empathy, and teamwork. Our classroom and playground practices encourage belonging and resilience, as students learn to navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and support one another. By fostering trust, fun, and community, we nurture confident learners who are grounded in positive relationships and a strong sense of self.
