Shape of the Week - Sept 22-26
ROSS ELEMENTARY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Friday September 19th, 2025.
A Message from your Principal Mr. Frew,
We had a busy week at Ross!
On behalf of the staff at Ross Elementary, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our parents and families for the incredible way you continue to participate in and invest in your children’s education. This week was filled with opportunities to connect as a community: our PAC meeting, the Book Fair, the Terry Fox Run, and the Meet and Greet Ice Cream Social. Each event was made meaningful by your presence and involvement. Your commitment helps create the rich, supportive learning environment that allows our students to thrive. It was a wonderful week for students, staff, and families alike, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships that make Ross such a vibrant place to learn and grow.
What is happening next week?
Tuesday September 23rd. Indigenous dinner with Auntie Lisa. Your Ross Elementary Indigenous Support Worker.
Auntie Lisa is welcoming all indigenous families back to school with a Salmon Bake on Tuesday September 23. Doors open at 4:30 and dinner starts at 5:00. Come enjoy some food and fun and celebrated the re-growth of our various indigenous cultures.
Cross Country Running for Grade 4s & 5s.
We’re excited to announce that Cross Country is coming up for our Grade 4 and 5 students! The races will take place at Bradner Elementary School on Tuesday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 8, after school.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for transporting students to Bradner and then home. Permission forms will be sent home with students next week. Both boys and girls are welcome to participate. We look forward to seeing our Ross runners represent our school!
Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 26th
Ross Elementary will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 26th. This important day is a time for us to honor the survivors of residential schools, remember those who never made it home, and acknowledge the lasting impact this history continues to have on Indigenous communities. By wearing orange, we stand together in the spirit of reconciliation and committ to ensuring that every child matters, both in the past and in the present.
What is Happening Later??
Sept. 29th-Professional Development Day/No school for students
Sept. 30th- Truth and Reconciliation Day/ No school for students and staff
