Message to community:
Master Jose from Chang’s Taekwondo came to Ross for a few sessions with kids and taught them about confidence and respect. The best self-defense is distance from the other person. Having confidence gives us the ability to be kind and respectful. The lessons were around life with some kicks and movements.
Still Looking for Volunteers
If you know anyone who has some extra time and would like to read with kids, we would really appreciate it. We have some students that would greatly benefit from extra reading practice with an adult. Please email me at kristen.vogel@abbyschools.ca
Learning
Division 3 had a busy week and every Friday they do a summary of all their learning. Ms. Mungaroo was super excited about the connections they made to atoms and molecules. “I learned atoms are tiny pieces of molecules. One million atoms can fit in a single strand of hair and molecules make up matter.” She loved watching their “ah” moment.
Tawnie the math specialist from our district has continued to work with our classes. Division 2 had been learning how to play cribbage. The students have to do some quick adding in their head to get points. Division 3 worked on being able to explain their math thinking and how they used different strategies to solve addition equations.
PAC
The PAC is gearing up for Christmas. There are many events planned, such as, the Christmas store, Santa’s breakfast and the Giving Tree. Please visit the PAC’s Facebook page for more information and ways to be involved.
Parking
If you are driving your child to school, please park on the street and walk to get your child. If you are dropping off using the bus lane, please be aware that the bus arrives 8:45am and you need to be quick about the kids getting out of the car. If you drop off in the lane closest to the road, please have them exit onto the grass and use the cross walk to cross the street. Please do not park and leave your vehicle in the bus lane.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is already growing. If you are able to label your child’s clothes, we do our very best to get any clothes left on the playground back to them. We will put out our Lost and Found every Friday, so please come and have look.
Absences
If your child is going to be absent please use the Safe Arrival which can be found on the Ross website - https://ross.abbyschools.ca/safe-arrival . If they are late, please come and check in at the office. If you are not going to be riding the bus, please also let us know that you are picking up your child. Our phone number is 604-856-6079.
