Shape of the Week - June 9 - 13

June 10- PAC meeting @ 6pm virtual

Message to community:

Bring Wheels to School

“Bring your Wheels to School” is a unique day for Ross students. It was wonderful to see the students riding their bikes and scooters. I was particularly moved by the determination and perseverance of those students who found riding bikes and scooters challenging. Thanks for bringing in their wheels as that added an extra job to your day and for bringing in extra helmets and bikes for the kids who did not have them. Also, thanks to all the parents that were here to help. It was very much appreciated.

Grade 4/5 Track Meet

The grade 4/5 track meet at Rotary Stadium was a success. The kids ran their hearts out. They tried things they had never tried before and pushed themselves, especially when running the 400- and 800-meter race. As I was in the high jump area, I heard words of encouragement said to all students and saw determination on their faces. I am incredibly proud of our students for their efforts and the positive energy they brought to the event.

Teresa Liaw’s Open House

It is with a mix of joy and gratitude that we celebrated the retirement of Teresa, who has dedicated 35 years to teaching at our school. Teresa's commitment and passion for education have impacted countless students, shaping their futures and nurturing their growth. Her presence has been a cornerstone of our community, and this was evident as many came together to express their appreciation for all she has done. Teresa's legacy is one of inspiration and excellence, and her contributions will be remembered for generations to come. We wish her all the best in her retirement and thank her for the incredible journey she has shared with us.

Learning

Division 6 has truly showcased their remarkable creativity and entrepreneurial spirit by developing a variety of businesses for our community. One student has taken the initiative to create a charming flower shop, bringing beauty and nature to our

surroundings. Additionally, the class has ventured into the sweet world of candy by establishing a candy shop, where they are learning valuable lessons about money management and the economics of buying and selling candy. Their innovative minds didn't stop there; they also had a delightful experience designing a butterfly cage, adding a touch of whimsy and wonder to their projects. The creativity and thoughtfulness that went into these endeavors are truly amazing, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and contributions to our community.

Parking

If you are driving your child to school, please park on the street and walk to get your child. If you are dropping off using the bus lane, please be aware that the bus arrives at 8:45am and you need to be quick about the kids getting out of the car. If you drop off in the lane closest to the road, please have them exit onto the grass and use the crosswalk to cross the street. Please do not park and leave your vehicle in the bus lane.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is already growing. If you are able to label your child’s clothes, we do our very best to get any clothes left on the playground back to them. We will put out our Lost and Found every Friday, so please come and have look.

Absences

If your child is going to be absent, please use the Safe Arrival which can be found on the Ross website - https://ross.abbyschools.ca/safe-arrival . If they are late, please come and check in at the office. If you are not going to be riding the bus, please also let us know that you are picking up your child. Our phone number is 604-856-6079.
