Shape of the Week

Jan 6th- School Starts

Message to community:

The Ross community never ceases to amaze me. The generosity shown to others in the form of food and gifts and the time that people have put into making this season magical for all the kids here is outstanding.  The Christmas store was a huge success. I love watching the kids pick out gifts for their family members. A huge shout out to Jacqui Weins for helping organize it and all the volunteers who helped the kids wrap and pick out the perfect gift.

I wish you all a holiday season filled with joy and spending time with those you love.  I look forward to all the learning that will take place in the new year.

PAC sponsored Santa Pancake Breakfast

The pancake breakfast was once again a highlight of the year. A big shout out to the Kiwanis club for flipping pancakes for us.  A big thank you to Neetu Khera and Binnie Brar for organizing this year. It was wonderful seeing all the families eating together and enjoying the season. The Silent Auction was organized by Aissa Blanchard and Christina Roberts. Thanks again for getting all the donors and the community for supporting this event.

Learning

The highlight of the week was division 7 and 1’s gingerbread hunt.  They decorated the cookies together and then at recess the gingerbread men came alive and ran away. They ran around the school trying to find them and the clues kept taking them to different locations. I am not sure who were more excited, the kindergartens or division 1.

Noon hour supervisors

We are looking for on call noon hour supervisors.  It would be if one of our current noon hour supervisors is unable to come in. The job entails monitoring kids while eating and then transitioning them onto the playground and supervising them outside. The hours are from 12:30-1:30.

PAC

The PAC has been very busy this holiday season with the Giving Tree, Christmas Store and the pancake breakfast. I have never seen a PAC that operates so efficiently and shares responsibilities. My deepest thanks! The Christmas store raised about $1400 which went to our families in need and the silent auction was a success.

Parking

If you are driving your child to school, please park on the street and walk to get your child.  If you are dropping off using the bus lane, please be aware that the bus arrives at 8:45am and you need to be quick about the kids getting out of the car. If you drop off in the lane closest to the road, please have them exit onto the grass and use the cross walk to cross the street. Please do not park and leave your vehicle in the bus lane.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is already growing. If you are able to label your child’s clothes, we do our very best to get any clothes left on the playground back to them. We will put out our Lost and Found every Friday, so please come and have look.

Absences

If your child is going to be absent please use the Safe Arrival which can be found on the Ross website - https://ross.abbyschools.ca/safe-arrival  . If they are late, please come and check in at the office. If you are not going to be riding the bus, please also let us know that you are picking up your child. Our phone number is 604-856-6079.
